Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 23, 2026
RankPhotos is a service provided by Cupid, LLC (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”). We value and respect your privacy. This RankPhotos Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes our data collection practices, including how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website. It applies to everyone who visits or uses RankPhotos — whether you are creating an account and submitting photos to be ranked, taking part in a survey or review task to give feedback on someone else’s photos, or simply browsing the website without an account. By using RankPhotos, you agree to this Policy. If you disagree with any portion of this Policy, you should refrain from using RankPhotos.
For the purpose of this Policy, the words “data” and “information” are used interchangeably. References to “personal data” and “personal information” refers to any data or information that can be used to identify an individual directly.
The Information We Collect
We collect the information we need to gather feedback and rank your photos, communicate with you, personalize our services, and comply with applicable laws. We collect the following information:
- The information you provide. We may collect any information you submit through our website, including your photos, name, email address, and payment method information. You may provide us with this information when you upload your photos, create an account, complete your profile, subscribe to our newsletters, pay to rank your photos, and contact us.
You are not statutorily required to provide us with this information. However, we will be unable to provide you with our services without your information.
- The information we collect automatically. When you access our website and interact with our content, we may use cookies, similar technologies, and tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to gather certain information about your device and actions automatically. The information we collect automatically may include:
- your device properties (including the IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, geolocation, and unique device identifiers); and
- analytics of your use of our website and interaction with our content, including pages visited, date and time of visit, duration on those pages, clicks, scrolls, taps, form and button interactions, referring and exit pages, the features you use, recordings or reconstructions of your sessions, performance measurements, and diagnostic information about errors and crashes; and
- how you found us — the referring website and any advertising click identifier or campaign tag in the web address you arrived on (for example from a Google or Meta ad). We record this ourselves, keep it with your order if you buy, and use it to understand which of our marketing actually works. It is not used to build a profile of you or shared with advertising partners for that purpose.
We use, and may in the future use, a range of analytics, product measurement, session replay, and error and performance monitoring tools to gather this information. These currently include PostHog for product analytics and Amazon CloudWatch RUM for performance and error monitoring, and may include Google Analytics and comparable tools provided by other vendors. These tools are provided by third parties, and they may embed cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits, browser local and session storage, device or session identifiers, and similar tracking technologies to gather this information, some of which may identify you or your device rather than being anonymous.
Where we use Google Analytics, you can opt out of its tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on on your device browser.
- The information we collect from third parties. Some of our third parties may provide us with information about you. For example, Google may provide us with your name and email address if you sign up using the social media plugin on the sign-up page and Stripe may provide us with details of transactions you make, such as the service purchased, payment method used, time and date of purchase, and similar financial information.
Why We Collect Your Information
We collect your data to:
- Operate and improve RankPhotos, including features like photo uploads, feedback processing, and account access.
- Generate personalized feedback summaries on your photos using AI and third-party reviewers.
- Provide support services, including responding to your requests.
- Monitor activity to protect our website, detect suspicious behavior, and ensure a secure experience for all users.
- Process your payments for our services. We use Stripe to process payments across our website.
- Understand user interests and personalize your experience by suggesting relevant features or content.
- Assess trends, monitor site usage, and make improvements through analytics.
- Create aggregated and de-identified benchmarks, statistics, and comparative insights from rankings and feedback (for example, how photos perform on average), and use short, word-for-word excerpts of the written feedback reviewers leave. These insights never identify you and never include your photos. We may display them to other users within RankPhotos to help them understand their own results, and we may publish them, including in marketing, advertising, research, educational, and press materials.
- Personalize advertisements and measure campaign effectiveness with advertising and analytics partners such as Meta and Google Ads (if you consent). These partners receive page activity and conversion events. They never receive your photos, the feedback reviewers leave on them, or your ranking results.
- Send you marketing content based on your interest and consent.
- Fulfill legal obligations, enforce our policies, and protect the rights and safety of users and our company.
We process your information based on the following legal grounds:
- We have your consent to process some of your information, such as when you willingly consent to us sharing your photos with third-party workers to obtain feedback.
- We need your information to perform our services, such as gathering feedback, ranking your photos, processing payments, and managing your account.
- We obtain some information for our legitimate interest, such as to secure our services, improve our website, secure our website, and personalize our offerings.
- We may collect certain information to carry out our legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and fraud prevention requirements.
Third-Party Access to Your Information
We may share your information with selected third parties under specific circumstances to operate and improve RankPhotos, comply with legal obligations, and support business operations. Below are the types of third parties we may share your information with and the purposes of each:
- Third-Party Service Providers. We engage a variety of third-party service providers to help us deliver the core features and functionality of RankPhotos. These providers have limited access to your information, which is restricted to what is necessary for their services. Key service providers and their functions include:
- Auth0 for secure authentication and authorization.
- Stripe for processing payments.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) for reliable cloud storage and computing infrastructure.
- OpenAI for processing and summarizing feedback data from reviewers using AI.
- PostHog for product analytics, usage measurement, session replay, and feature experimentation.
- Amazon CloudWatch RUM for website performance monitoring and error diagnostics.
- Google for analytics gathering using Google Analytics 4 (GA4); Google Ads for marketing; and Google sign-in for account access.
This list describes the categories of providers we rely on and the providers we use at the time of writing. It is not exhaustive, and we may add, replace, or remove providers that perform comparable functions without separately notifying you.
Please access these third-party service providers’ websites to review their privacy policies if you wish to learn more.
- Prolific Participants. We may share your photos with Prolific participants we engage to gather feedback on your submitted photos. These participants are bound by confidentiality to use your photos only for the purpose they are shared with them. By using our services, you agree to this sharing.
- Legal Compliance and Protection. We may share your information when required to comply with laws, regulations, or legal processes, or in response to requests from government authorities. This may include sharing information in response to court orders, subpoenas, or other legal processes to comply with law enforcement or regulatory requirements or disclosing data to protect our rights, privacy, safety, and property, as well as the rights, privacy, safety, and property of our users or the public when necessary.
- Business Transfers. If we are involved in a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred to the new entity as part of the transaction. In such cases we will notify you of any changes in ownership and provide you with details on any changes to privacy practices if they differ from this Policy and your information will continue to be protected as outlined in this Policy unless you are notified otherwise.
- Professional Advisors and Auditors. We may share information with our auditors, legal advisors, and other professionals who assist us in maintaining legal compliance, financial integrity, and operational excellence. These advisors are required to keep your information confidential and to use it only for the purpose of providing their professional services.
- Aggregated and De-identified Information. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified data (information that does not identify you personally and does not include your photos) for purposes such as research, analytics, marketing, and generating benchmarks and comparative insights. This also covers short, word-for-word excerpts of the written feedback reviewers leave on rankings, which we may publish in marketing, advertising, research, educational, and press materials. We may share this data with third parties, and we may display it to other users within RankPhotos. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user. Statistics are derived only from a large enough number of rankings that no individual can be re-identified, and an excerpt is used only where it neither names nor describes a person or their photos in a way that could reasonably identify them; where it would, we edit out the identifying detail or do not use it. You may ask us to exclude your rankings from this use by emailing support@rankphotos.com.
Each third party that accesses your information is bound by confidentiality obligations and restricted in their use of your data to the purposes outlined above. We do not authorize any third parties to use your information for unrelated purposes or without your consent.
Cookies Policy
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance user experience, analyze website performance, and deliver relevant advertising. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website with different functions, including remembering information about your visit, such as your login status, language preferences, and other settings and securing the website against fraud and violations.
The cookies we use and why
We use the following types of cookies on our website:
- Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are essential for you to navigate our website and use its features, such as authenticating you, keeping you signed in, remembering that you have been granted access to a restricted area of the website, and protecting against fraud and abuse. Without these cookies, certain services may not be available.
- Performance and analytics cookies. These cookies and similar identifiers help us understand how users interact with our website by collecting and reporting information about your use of it. We use these insights to improve our website’s functionality and performance. PostHog is an example of a tool we currently use for this purpose, and Google Analytics is an example of a tool we may use. Information collected for these purposes may be linked to you or to a persistent identifier for your device or session, and is not always anonymous.
- Functionality cookies. These cookies allow our website to remember your preferences (such as language or region) and provide enhanced, personalized features.
- Advertising cookies. We may use advertising cookies to deliver ads that are more relevant to your interests. These cookies also help us track ad performance. For instance, advertising partners such as Google Ads and Meta may use cookies to tailor ads you see on and off our website.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies and similar technologies on our website are placed by third-party services that we use, such as PostHog, Auth0, Stripe, Amazon Web Services, Google, and Meta. These help us with product analytics, secure authentication, payment processing, performance and error monitoring, and enhanced user functionality. Where you are sent to a third party’s own pages to complete a step, such as signing in or paying, that third party may set its own cookies on its own website under its own privacy policy.
Duration of cookies
Cookies may be “session” or “persistent” in terms of their duration. Session cookies are temporary and expire once you close your browser. They are commonly used for essential functions and basic site navigation. Persistent cookies, on the other hand, remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them. Their duration varies based on their purpose.
Managing cookies
You have the right to manage cookies, including deleting or blocking them from your browser. Most browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences. You can typically use the privacy settings section of the applicable browser to manage your cookie preference. Our website may also show you a cookie consent banner when you access it. You can unsubscribe from our email newsletters at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any email from us or contacting us at support@rankphotos.com. Please note that unsubscribing will only affect newsletter communications and will not impact any other information associated with your RankPhotos account.
Behavioral (Interest-Based) Advertising
We may engage in behavioral advertising where adverts relevant to your interests are displayed to you on Google platform and other websites. We may partner with third-party advertising networks, such as Google Ads and Meta, to display these tailored ads. These networks may collect information about your activity on our website and other websites to serve relevant ads based on your interests and browsing habits. This data helps us improve our advertising efforts and ensures you see ads that are more relevant to you.
You can manage your preferences for behavioral advertising by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings or opting out through tools provided by third-party ad networks, such as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page. Please note that opting out of behavioral advertising does not mean you will no longer see ads; rather, the ads displayed may be less relevant to your interests.
How We Secure Your Information
We prioritize the security of your data. We do not collect any information we do not need. Our website has the latest technologies that ensure the transmission of your information from your browser to our system is encrypted. Also, we do not store your payment information in our system, it is directly transferred to and used by Stripe to process your payments. We work with trusted providers like AWS and Auth0, known for high-security standards.
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we are committed to protecting your information to the highest reasonable standard. In the event of a data breach that affects any of your personal data, we will notify you without unreasonable delay and as required by applicable law.
The Cross-Border Transfer of Information
We and our third-party service providers operate from our base in the US and process your data in accordance with all applicable US privacy laws. However, information may be transferred to service providers in locations outside of the US where the privacy laws may be slightly different. However, we take steps to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy, wherever it is processed. For transfers from the European Economic Area (EEA) or other regions with data transfer restrictions, we implement appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to protect your data.
Our Data Retention Policy
We do not keep your data on our systems unless we need to provide you with our services, comply with applicable laws, resolve disputes, or improve our offerings. The specific retention period may vary depending on the type of information and the reason for its collection.
When your data is no longer needed or you exercise your right of deletion (such as when you ask us to delete your account), we take steps to securely delete or anonymize it. Account-related data, such as login information and profile data, is retained while your account is active. If you choose to delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, unless required to retain it for legal reasons. We may retain details of transaction for period required by applicable laws.

Do Not Track Signals
RankPhotos does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals sent by browsers. “Do Not Track” is a privacy preference that users can set in their web browsers to inform websites that they do not want certain information about their browsing activity collected. Because there is no consistent standard for handling DNT signals across the internet, we currently do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect a DNT signal.
If industry standards change and we begin to honor DNT signals, we will update this Policy to reflect that change.

These third-party websites are not governed by this Policy, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices, content, or actions.
